"Después de esta Palma de Oro de honor, agradezco a todos aquellos que me han mostrado de una u otra forma su afecto y su simpatía, y más 

A medida que mi viaje llega a su fin, quiero decirlo: he conocido tantas pasiones, tantos amores, tantos éxitos y fracasos, tantas controversias, tantos escándalos, tantos hechos tenebrosos, tantos recuerdos, tantas citas perdidas, reuniones improvisadas, tantos altibajos, que cuando los honores no sean más que recuerdos vanos y distantes, solo hay una cosa que brillará por su constancia y longevidad: ustedes, solo ustedes. 

A ustedes, que hicieron lo que soy, y quienes harán lo que soy, tuve que decírselo. Les digo gracias, gracias, gracias "

"In the aftermath of this Palme d'Or of honor, I am grateful to all those who have shown me in one way or another their affection and their sympathy, and more. 

As my journey comes to an end, I want to say it: I have known so many passions, so many loves, so many successes and failures, so many controversies, so many scandals, so many affairs , so many memories, so many missed appointments, impromptu meetings, so many ups and downs, that when the honors will be nothing more than vain and distant memories, there is only one thing that will shine by its constancy and longevity: you , only you 

To you who did what I am, and who will do what I am, I had to tell you. I say thank you, thank you, thank you "
